A few decisive moves took this NYC apartment from worn to vibrant, a true reflection of its owner. The galley kitchen now opens to the living room over an eat-in quartz peninsula with a waterfall edge, grounded by Escher-inspired cement tile, while wide-plank distressed oak floors, a moss-planted brick wall lit from a cove, and a radiator cabinet that becomes a work-from-home desk carry the character through the space. A hyper-efficient reach-in closet widened the bedroom for art and a reading nook, and the bath was rebuilt with a porcelain slab tub surround, floating vanity, and bamboo-clad walls for warmth and texture.
